Our Story.
Le Cœur du Partage d’Etienne, “Etienne’s Heart of Sharing”, was founded by Grace Ntibonera, inspired by the profound empathy and enduring strength of his father, Etienne Basirwa Chifizi.
Fleeing political persecution in Congo, Etienne’s activism sowed the seeds of compassion in Grace from a young age. Witnessing his father’s dedication to uplifting the Congolese people (to the point of imprisonment), and then his support for the needy in Uganda, and experiencing firsthand the life-changing impact of community support, Grace was compelled to act.
“I will never forget the experience of being hungry, myself. I never want another kid to experience this.”
He transformed his childhood memories of hunger and hardship into a force for good, establishing an organization dedicated to providing immediate relief to children in need.
Our mission is simple: to continue Etienne’s legacy of selfless giving with the hope that, one day, no child faces the pangs of hunger that once shadowed Grace’s own childhood.
Our Work.
We feed more than 500 children each week and employ almost 20 adults. Our dedicated team creates a safe and caring environment where we do more than feed the hungry; we engage children in enriching activities, offer mental health support and encourage play to foster a sense of belonging and joy. Through our hands-on work, we fill young stomachs with food and people of all ages with hope, building a foundation for a brighter tomorrow.
